I’ve been working on appetizers in order to get ready for Super Bowl 50. I started out with one of my favorites Bacon Wrapped Date Appetizer. This recipe looks decadent and difficult but it is so simple and requires only 3 ingredients. How can you possible go wrong with bacon and blue cheese and then add the sweetness of the dates and you have a awesome flavor combo in every bite! This recipe made 24 dates, you could always double or triple it for a crowd, they will definitely get eaten up fast.

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. package of bacon (mine had 8 slices)
  • small chunk of good blue cheese (I used Point Reyes, its my favorite)
  • 24 dates
  • toothpicks

Directions: Preheat oven to 425 degrees Cut bacon slices into thirds so that you have 24 pieces. With a small knife cut slit in each date and stuff in the blue cheese. Make sure that there’s not so much that you can close it back up most of the way. Take a piece of bacon wrap around the stuff date and use a toothpick to keep closed. Repeat the process for all 24 dates. Place on baking sheet covered in parchment paper for easy clean up. Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes until bacon is browned on the outside. Plate and serve.
