I love Costco and it is one of the first places I tell people to go when I’m explaining to them how to prepare for the Whole30. I wanted to share a little bit about how to prepare for the Whole30 in order to make it easier and more flavorful. I’ve been helping a friend of mine to achieve her weight loss goals and I kept telling her how much doing the Whole30 has helped me to understand what my body really needs in order to feel my best. We decided to go on a Whole30 journey together. It is always helpful to have someone to support you and share recipes or cravings with. Costco has great prices on healthy foods. You end up with larger amounts of food but since you will be cooking almost all of your meals for 30 days you should use everything up easily. When I think about starting another Whole30 I try to focus on all the great foods that I get to eat and not the foods that are restricted for the next 30 days. It takes some planning and innovations or research to keep food from getting boring (there are lots of great Whole30 recipe resources out there). It takes some preparation to make the most out of the Whole30 compliant foods and to create some flavorful dishes so that you don’t feel deprived throughout your cleanse. I get to have a little more of my favorite things that I usually have to limit in my diet like Whole30 compliant bacon, macadamia nuts, and ghee! Some of my Whole30 must haves: You can make your own mayonnaise with my recipe here, it’s easier than you think I get a large bottle of avocado oil there for a great price: http://www.wholistickitchen.com/2016/09/19/paleo-whole-30-homemade-mayonnaise/ OR there are quite a few Whole30 compliant ones out there now just check the label and make sure there’s no sugar, canola oil or additives. You can find one from Costco or Whole Foods. I use the mayonnaise as a dip for veggies, make dressings out of it, use it as one of the condiments on my wrap or in my tuna or egg salad. Speaking of tuna and egg salad I get Albacore tuna and Organic Eggs from Costco for a great price. Stay tuned for my favorite simple, delicious tuna and egg salad recipes coming soon. I get the Aidell’s Chicken Apple sausage since they are only sweetened with juice for when I’m in a hurry and need a quick meal. I serve these with Farmhouse Culture Sauerkraut also from Costco which is great for your digestion. The Costco Kirkland Marinara sauce doesn’t have any sugar so can be used on the Whole30. I love to add ground beef and veggies to it and serve it over spaghetti squash. Check out my recipe for Roasted Spaghetti Squash http://www.wholistickitchen.com/2016/09/19/roasted-spaghetti-squash/ I get the Organic frozen vegetable medley for another quick and easy go to when I am in a rush. I usually just steam it up and add a little olive oil and spices to it. Another one of my favorite things is the already cooked packages of Organic beets. They are so easy to use I just add some vinegar and seasoning. They are a great addition to any salad or great on their own. Stay tuned for more awesome Whole30 recipes and tips over the next 30 days! How to prepare for the Whole30
